Breaking the “Thought Barrier”

by admin on December 21, 2009

Have you ever thought what really makes you lose concentration?

It often boils down to fear of how we’ll come across – fear of how we’ll be understood.

So, we usually play it safe.

I mean, we shy away from taking risks. Even social risks.

You know what I mean?

And that’s a real bummer for the things that can propel us forward, like creativity and productivity.

You  know, those activities that the smart people do instead of working themselves to death.

.....makes perfect.....makes perfect

It sounds a little trite to say that the difference between effortless success and arduous labor can be predicted by how fearful a per.....makes perfectson is of how he/she comes across.  But it’s true.

Seth Godin calls it the “Fear of Bad Ideas“.

Put simply, you have to practice to be good at anything. And to practice – really practice, mean being ready to fail. Being ready to do it over and over and over again…. until it’s perfect.

That includes thinking!

Yes, if you want to get good ideas, the road inevitably leads through a whole lot of not-so-good ones.

And you have to be prepared for that.

If not, you’ll never get better…..

Happy Holidays
